"This is a really good series that stands out from the crowd" according to Constance. This is a really good series that stands out from the crowd. This is not a cozy "cat" type mystery. The mystery/crime components remain interesting through the series, but the building of the friendship between straight cop and gay psychiatrist is what shines. The first book is set in the late 80s or early 90s, and the evolution of the relationship over the life of the series is outstanding..
