I was fortunate to have worked on the largest one at American Airlines and to participate in the creation of three other ones at Bank of America, SNCF (French National Railroad) and Sirena-3 (Russian Civil Aviation). TPFers remain a mixture of a secret society and technical fraternity/Sorority. Only a handful of people have ever heard of TPF (Transaction Processing Facility); fewer than 100 systems are being used worldwide. This is not a technical review of the product but rather the personal experience that I lived with a few other colleagues that were handpicked to work on two very complex projects with very small odds for success.

Highly recommend.. "Total waste of time!" according to Manish Didwania. It is a complete waste of your time. The writer talk more about his personal life rather than TPF. I though he could have at least spend sometime on how the different solutions came from the core AA system, rather than detailing his time in different cities.
