"Action shots that kids can color and hang in windows and get a stained glass effect." according to Craig Matteson. I bought this for my granddaughter who is mad about planes and helicopters. I did not quite understand how the book works until I saw it. Each page is a drawing on translucent (not transparent) paper. The child (or adult) removes it from the book, colors it as they wish, and then can hang it in a window or some place where the light can shine through it to create the stained glass effect. The drawings are all much as the one on the cover. Not photo realistic, but not too simple either. They are all action shots rather than static poses, which makes them more fun for the kids, I think.Since it is for Christmas, I have . "Great coloring book for four year old." according to Connie. My four and a half year old boy isn't a big colorer which is too bad because I love it. But when a shipment of several Dover coloring books arrived as a gift for him, he was happy to sit down and give them a whirl. He has really really enjoyed them and sat coloring for an hour. The pages are translucent, kind of like wax paper but of course more rigid. I was surprised how nicely both ordinary crayons as well as colored pencils worked. Also love love love the perforated pages. Highly recommend.. "Best for Older Children" according to Jen D.. This coloring book is probably best for older children. The pages are vellum, so somewhat transparent, and not great for smaller children with crayons. The pictures are fairly detailed. I bought it for a third grader who was laid up on the couch for awhile with nothing to do. It went into a helicopter-themed goodie bag along with colored pencils to keep him occupied. It was a nice touch, and gave him something to do.
