The most authoritative book on the Chevy Small Block Engine Growing up in Northern California my first interests in hot rods and performance engines began at about the age of 12 watching older brothers and their friends build GTO's, Corvettes and SS's in the neighborhood. We lived close to Modesto California where George Lucas grew up. Modesto was the inspiration for American Graffiti. These guys would build their cars and cruise them on McHenry blvd. As a kid you pick up on buzz words and "289" or "327" were very important to a young man's vocabulary. Later, when I started to build my own engines I was already a Chevy man and I absorbed everything I could learn about the. a must have for the first time builder walter nevis this is a good book it was well written. this is not a rebuild manual, but there is valuable information in here. If your getting ready to build your first motor this book will help you make a plan. It would be worth reading at least twice before you build or rebuild you first engine. lots of basics you may not of thought about.. michael park said good read.. this is the bible for small blocks. I picked up a lot of info and the book is written with the goal to teach not confuse more by using technical terms
