DESCRIPTION:
"This book is a good introduction to the ways in which retail environments are" according to Michael V. Julien. This book is a good introduction to the ways in which retail environments are changing - especially in Europe. However, it does not "bridge" - as well as it could have - the growing immersion of retail design and communication design. Therefore the book went "flat" after reading some very interesting introductory pieces of text. Would I have brought it if I had had the opportunity to "scan" through it physically in a bricks and mortar book store? Ummm probably not, but I would have walked away with some additional value from having done so.
Current challenges in retail design, such as the increasing digitizationand the merging of online and offline platforms, have ledto altogether new forms of retail and of their spatial expression. This is what this new yearbook takes a look at. It provides a current overview of innovations in multi-channel commerce, from pioneering in-store technology to new products, materials and lighting solutions at the point of sale. More than 50 current examples of best practice, from temporary popupstores and avant-garde brand worlds to hybrid retail centers, present an inspiring international cross section.
