A Customer said Excellent advanced text for geologic remote sensers. As a graduate student in geologic remote sensing, I've had a difficult time finding a text that doesn't start from a discussion of the EM spectrum or being so complex it's unusable. This text assumes a certain base knowledge and jumps right into relatively advanced concepts with ample discussion and case studies. The discussions are clear and easy to follow without getting bogged down in high level physics, chemistry, and math, although the appendices explore this end of it. Being written from a geologic perspective, I found it very useful in directly applying to my research, without having to extend general remote sensi. "This book is OK." according to A Customer. This book lacks sophistication, but is excellent for someone wanting a very general understanding of remote sensing. It is not rigourous enough for a college level course. Most major topics are introduced in a cursory manner, and some discussions the author makes are simply "odd".. A Customer said Absolutely poor textbook. This book lacks any new science. The author's "tangents" into other aspects of geology are often inacurate and misleading to students of any level. The author's claims of science and discovery are eccentric and very odd to read. This book needed a more detailed peer review process.
Part of the Prentice Hall Series In G.I.S. Recommend prerequisites: Calculus, Petrology, and Mineralogy. Appropriate for senior level undergraduate and graduate courses. Also includes coverage on remote sensing as it applies to environmental monitoring-a topic that places this textbook on the cutting edge in the field.. This book presents comprehensive coverage of remote sensing with a focus on multispectral applications and digital photogrammetry
