"Detroit Purpose" according to D.D. Maurer. Zande knows Detroit. I mean, he really, really knows Detroit. From the first page, the author weaves a tale showing both the decaying underbelly of the city, but also the hope infused within the people. Robby, as the protagonist, is three-dimensional and struggles not only with his past addictions, but an uncertain future which lies ahead. At one point in the book, Robby asks Tif, "Do you do you believe that each life has a purpose?"I think Robby's question signifies a larger, meta-question the book intends to probe. I appreciated the author taking the time to guide the reader through R. "Refreshing Recovery Novel" according to abbiegrrl. A great summertime read! This book will grab you from the first page. With vibrant descriptions of the grit of the city and also the lushness and peacefulness of the fishing spot, I encourage anyone with any interest in addiction or alcoholism to read Detroit Muscle.. Nicely written Quick to read & landmarks familiar to me. I got caught up in the story.
