"A good overview of techniques in context" according to M. Henri De Feraudy. This book is considerably better than I expected.I expected a disjoint collection of research articles on various themes of Intelligent Recogntion (based on digital images and sound), for whichyou needed to be a researcher to be able to get past the abstract.Instead it's a collection of quite pedagogical articles on many of the main techniques (at the time, but the field only evolves slowly) that can be applied to handwriting recognition, fingerprint recognition, face recognition, utomatic medical image interpretation and so on. The quality of the writing is better than in many research publication, and I guess we can thank Mu
