DESCRIPTION:
Riveting but difficult read. nrevvy This is pretty amazing for a debut author. I'm really torn up about rating it because there was much that was great but also a lot that was achingly hard to read. Reading the first chapters, I was reminded of a P.D. James mystery, if Adam Dalgleish was a young detective, and gay. I wondered if perhaps James name was inspired. Then a remark from Ben about James being like the poetry quoting detective in a P.D. James novel, made it seem possible. The best word I can describe the story with is turbulent. Also, much of the first part of the story seemed ponderous at. Some seriously smooth and slick crime writing with an edge that kept me glued to my seat reading. I'm a huge Brit crime tv junkie, I subject my partner to it regularly, and this kept me guessing with beautiful pacing, that didn't drag.James is a beautifully written character, who I totally fell for.(I'm really hoping this is the first in a series. AC said Perfectly crafted, well-balanced, intricate and immensely captivating debut novel!. Bitter Legacy hooked me from the very beginning and I just knew it was going to be an intense ride. I absolutely love the procedural genre and this story takes us trough a long, tortuous investigation bit by bit and at the same time through a whole range of emotions. It's an uncompromising, tragic, twisted mystery but it's also about coming to terms with one's inner demons, whatever they are and it's also about love and acceptance. Tortuous can also be used for the unusual love story and it's an understatement, the sexual tension is absolutely insane and there
