Written in 1920 with lot of illustrations, it is available online for FREE. All you have to do is to search "Ancient Egyptian, Assyrian and Persian Costumes" PDF on Google and download it if you need it for a research. It is however interesting how different publishers try to fool readers to think it is a new book and to sell it for a relatively high price without even allowing the readers to look inside the book (aside from few selected pages at most). This book is the best on the subject of ancient fashions I have managed to peel from the kindle store.The author spent much time figuring out how and why garments were made and draped around the body. I was amazed to see how primitive clothing was in ancient times (right up till the Roman Empire). In most cultures the main garment basically was no more than a sheet.The book also talks about the use of jewelry, and about the way cultures of the Ancient Middle East interacted (as far as fashion is concerned). It also looks at the reason why certain dressing habits developed (such as pants in Pers. Not helpful for my costume design project. I was disappointed with this purchase. L.J. O'Neal I was really disappointed with this book. I have worked with costume design for many years. I was looking to recreate Medo-Persian costumes that were historically accurate and aesthetically pleasing. I found the drawings in this book amateurish and disappointing. I contacted Amazon to return the book. I found better examples with other research, elsewhere. As a result, my costumes were a 'hit' with the theatrical production's director, actors and audience.
