Alcoholism is a progressive illness that touches everyone in one form or another because it affects relationships. The pleasure derived from drinking ought not outweigh the need to be responsible. Of course, we need to fit in with the status quo that defines drinking as an acceptable social custom The reality of drink is much more insidious than we like to admit, and I admire this book for being a step on the path to acknowledging alcohol's unremarkable taint on our human endeavor.. a must read Irene Harper David's book is right on target and I also ordered the cd which is fabulous. new outlook on the problem

It’s not just about the stereotypical alcoholic but for the invisible majority, the middle class drinkers, the people who are in control of their lives but with one significant exception that they have already concluded that their use of alcohol is excessive. Alcoholism, as it turns out has nothing to do with alcohol.. People can completely change their relationship with alcohol if they address the real issues lying behind and driving their actions because I and others have done so. People who come to see me privately for help with their own personal battles with alcohol are invariably members of this group.
