DESCRIPTION:
From Nina Garcia—fashion judge on Bravo’s hit Project Runway and the New York Times bestselling author of Style Strategy—comes The One Hundred, the companion edition to her wildly popular The Little Black Book of Style. A must-own list of all the items every fashion-conscious woman should have as a solid, stylish foundation, The One Hundred features gorgeous illustrations by Ruben Toledo.
Julie Neal said Classic advice. The subhead reads "A Guide to the Pieces Every Stylish Woman Must Own." This book delivers. Author Garcia makes it clear that this list is HER list, and that every woman will have a somewhat different collection of apparel essentials. But this is a good place to start. The list is in alphabetical order (see below). Each listing has a description and full-color illustration of the item. Many have a sidebar called Fashion 101, which is a short history of the product, often with quotes. Garcia also includes Fun Facts, her own personal favorite brands, and many fashion tips.Especially fun are "Great Moments" segments. Great . Nice Job Nina! J. R. I was surprised how much I liked this book. What a great idea. You're always hearing over and over again how important it is to have bedrock pieces in your wardrobe, but I've never seen anyone actually make a list like this. While there were definitely items I have no desire to own, there were some I realized would really be useful. Happily I do already have many of the items on her list and it was interesting to read her tips on wearing them. I never would have thought of putting a skirt with booties (always sounded too 80's to me) but it's actually a classy look if done right. I also enjoyed reading the history behind. "Kind of a fun little book" according to RunnerMom. Kind of a fun little book, but definitely some outdated parts (Blackberry? Wonderbra?)I'll stick to fashion blogs for up to date fashion advice!
