A must read for parents of newly diagnosed patients It does not matter that this father writes about his experiences in the UK. What he describes can and does happen anywhere. Twenty years ago I searched in vain for such a book. Highest praise to Tim Salmon for writing it and for not giving up his dedication to this issue after so many painful years. Sad to say not much has changed over these years, though new medications do help some patients. Perhaps the most unusual thing about this book is that the author can even provoke us to laughter - not a. "A reality check" according to Amazon Customer. I read this book because a friend's son was recently diagnosed with schizophrenia and I wanted to be supportive, and knowledgeable without asking a lot of questions (most of which she wouldn't have a clue about yet, unless she had read this book).
