The first chapter has photographs taken in the Detroit area. The 61 photographs in this book are a great insight into the steam locomotives of the pre-World War II era of 1937 to 1940. They are just a sampling of the William R. railroads that had operations there. The last chapter has miscellaneous photographs from other Midwestern states, such as Ohio, Illinois and Iowa, that supplement the rest of the photographs by filling out some of the locomotive rosters of the railroads covered in the other chapters and adding a few railroads not previou

Collection of Railroad Photographs. Bill was an active trader of negatives back when that was part of the hobby. Others, like Pere Marquette Railway and Pennsylvania Railroad, total 70 negatives. Dewey Jr. Dewey, Jr. was a photographer and collector of railroad negatives. His railroad negative collection consists of 274 black and white 2x3 inch-sized negatives taken by him and others. Fifty-five different railroads are represented in the Dewey Collection.
