DESCRIPTION:
These creative details are contextualized via panoramic views throughout the book. This handsome, oversized volume is rich in ideas for amateur and professional interior designers alike.. Following his highly successful volume Maison, interior design guru Christian Liaigre takes us inside six exclusive properties to unveil his luxurious world of design. Liaigre unleashes his masterful eye on diverse, international settings—a hidden Spanish residence, a luxury yacht, a massive Swiss farmstead, a thatched-roof paradise in Bora Bora, a modern Canadian manor, and a villa in the South of France. He combines local materials with the personality of the owner, while remaining true to the signature style that has made him one of the most sought-after designers of our time. Close-up photographs feature a wealth of design details—embossed leather and velour upholstery, generously proportioned furniture, and splashes of jewel-tone accessories that sparkle against the warm earthy tones of the natural, local materials
The risk of having such a distinctive style as Liaigre, however, is that after a while it starts to look a little dated, and for all the clean lines and pleasing textures, these interiors look like they were created as sets for lifestyle magazines—something ultimately antihuman and contrived lingers. Part of the pleasure of the book lies in the material voyeurism it provides; it's always fun to see how the other half lives. All rights reserved. No matter: the designer has plenty of fans, and for those who want just a touch of Liaigrism, there will no doubt soon be plenty of mainstream knockoff versions of his oft-imitated look. From Publishers Weekly Liaigre's spare, Zen-meets-luxury aesthetic is instantly recognizable in these six sumptuously designed locations. . The first sprea
Not bad as a second book if you have the first one already L. L. Y. Wang I have to say the second book does not impress as much as the first book. Thought the first book was much more beautiful in terms of visual aesthetics. Too much digital photography was used in this second book and it didn't really fit the style of the design so well because it made it look cold. In terms of content this book was more interesting than the first book because it offered a more analytical look at the projects and not just a visual glorification. Definitely worth the money if you are a t. Stunning imagery, somewhat missing the feel of the spaces. T. Paterson The book is stunningly photographed, with lovely print quality, an excellent coffee table book. That said, having been to several of the projects, I felt that the photography was selected for its beauty rather than giving a sense of the spaces, the dynamic of the architecture, etc. Liaigre is a master of the details, and of the big picture. This book captures the former spectacularly, but is weak on the latter.. Buy the first one first A. Prud'homme This book is amazing, it's true, the unbelievable attention to detail, the craftsmanship and the modern luxury on display is sort of mind-blowing. These are the homes of modern day royalty and so it's a great opportunity to see what can be done when only the very best will do. There is plenty of classically Liaigre-esque "sensual minimalism" to ogle over, but somehow in "Liaigre" there's more of a Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous vibe that to me feels a bit off-putting and claustrophobic.
