Tim Tanner restored his first ca 1870s home in 1988, and has been involved in restoration and reproduction projects using reclaimed materials ever since then. He is an artist in and around Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and is on the faculty at Brigham Young University Idaho, where he teaches Art and Design.
In some cases, the owners of the homes featured here have added graceful touches to the bones of great old houses, while maintaining their historical grounding to the past. . "a mixture of old, new with old, fake old and a little too much Utah for my colonial taste" according to anne Hall. liked subject enough to want to see more and more houses but interior spaces were clutteredsection on new houses w old elements felt very suburban to me.I'd prefer radical renovations using colonial houses -- the breadth of what has been attempted -- rather than restoration and cluttered imitation. Rowley This beautiful book is filled with artistic photographs of lots of historic homes (mostly interiors - some exteriors). The text is warm and engaging and speaks to the heart of those of us who love historic homes, and country and early american ambience and style. I haven't seen any of the homes he's chosen in any other publications. The reason I did not give this book 5 stars is because of the quality of the photographs.
