It is a history of a bygone era. There are pictures that, when you look at them, you can see yourself sitting on the train ready to be served. This is especially true if you have ever had the pleasure of eating a meal in a dining car. This book conveys what elegance and service you had. Pictures of menus are included too.Each recipe is shown in its' original form and then corrected for modern cooking and terms. Recipes are not that difficult but have an elegance even i. Thrilled! I was thrilled to receive this book for Christmas - flipping through it, I found reference to my grandfather, Lawrence (Larry) Sagle, via an article he wrote for B&O magazine. I love the pictures and reference to this by-gone day of travel and formality (especially having 2 kids of my own ages 8 and 9, and seeing the family in the book where the boy and girl are dressed in suit and dress to enjoy their dinner in the dining car)!
