DESCRIPTION:

With more than fifty case studies of buildings from around the world, this volume considers works by some of the world’s most influential architects, including Tadao Ando, Steven Holl, Herzog & de Meuron, Peter Zumthor, Frank Gehry, Álvaro Siza, Alberto Campo Baeza, Rafael Moneo, Rem Koolhaas, Jean Nouvel, Fumihiko Maki, and Toyo Ito, among others. For all those seeking to create space that transcends the physical, The Architecture of Natural Light is a powerful and poetic yet practical survey that provides an original and timeless approach to contemporary architecture.. The first is concerned with protection from natural elements; the second with the creative and sometimes spiritual interaction between the man-made and the natural worlds. Delightful and full of light Filled with wonderful examples of how natural light can transform space. Unfortunately there is little technical discussion that deals with the theory of day-lighting and other uses of light. Very little has been written about the use of light in Architecture, so this is a welcome "coffee table" book that might get more designers interested in the possibilities.. William V. Kriebel said More light!. I have several books by the author, who expands again, here, on his continuing interest in the effects of light and its contribution to architecture and the senses. While the images are interesting and provocative, I feel that some of his other work--with a particular theme--on Shaker or Japanese buildings held my interest. Photographs, as always, are beautiful.. really happy with the purchase As described, really happy with the purchase.
