Good for Beginners, but Mike First off, this is a good book for beginners wanting to learn SolidWorks at their own pace. It is full of plenty of examples and is an easy read. On another note, I can't believe how many errors and mistakes were made in this book. Surely it must have been proofed since its published by Cengage Learning, but it really seems like a first draft. There are so many technical errors: backward drawings, wrong units, missing dimensions, duplicate practice problems, etc. I wish I would have bought one of the SDC Publications first. They are much more detailed and go more indepth on the tools and proper practices when work. Great book for beginners Todd Butcher I had never opened solidworks before this semester. I am relatively new to CAD software and used a couple different books for auto cad. This book is superior to every other book I've used. Subjects are presented in a simple straightforward manner. There are tutorials that take you step by step through completing a drawing with illustrations of precisely what you see on your monitor. At the end of every chapter are a few exercises that build off of the tutorials. Each exercise elevates the difficulty so that you elevate your level of difficulty step by step. The book follows step by step operations that make it a very comfortable learning experience. As I progressed I was amazed how quickly I was executing complicated directions and modeling complex parts/assemblies. Also, I highly recommend downloading the online content. This allows you to follow the step by step directions being explained through screenshots and directions in the text. This book is a great supplement to a
Each chapter is arranged so that it builds upon the skills and commands covered in the chapters before, beginning with an introduction to the software and the basics of navigating the user interface. Using a combination of short, command-focused exercises and longer, more involved tutorial files, you will find this a valuable tool for establishing a solid foundation in SolidWorks and then, once you have mastered that, for fine tuning your skills.. Coverage then progresses to creating sketches, then creating part files, and finally, creating assemblies. Take a step-by-step, guided tou
