But once Ryland gained the power of speech, it was time for them to listen as Ryland insisted, “I am a boy!” And listen they did. Amazon Customer said Fantastic, heartfelt book. I was not sure what to expect when I purchased this book. I am so glad that I read it. Prior to this book, I was not exposed to anything on the transgender side of the LGBT spectrum. The book was well written. You can tell the author really opened herself up to write this. She admitted mistakes she made along the way. Her love for her kids (both of them) truly shines. Regardless of your view point on the topic, this is a great book to see it from another's perspective.. Judy S said Continuing Education. After watching the 7 minute video, I wanted to learn more. This poignant story told by amazing young parents who had no guidebook to navigate dealing with their precious Ryland was mesmerizing. Instead of shaking my head with intolerance, I began hanging my head in shame. How little I knew; how much I learned! This family made a blueprint for others who are navigating this issue. It should be required reading for those who think they know everything or those who want to become informed.. "I enjoyed reading this story about a young girl transitioning into" according to E. Kosh. I enjoyed reading this story about a young girl transitioning into a transgender boy. I would have liked to read more about the child and less about the mom. It seemed that she was telling her story more than Ryland's. It was very informational and gave me a better understanding of what the family of a transgender child goes through.

In sharing her story, she encourages readers to have the courage to make the world a better place for all of us.. Mother of two Hillary Whittington has advocated for her children for years, serving as a classroom volunteer and public speaker. Through Raising Ryland, Hillary hopes to bring hope, strength, and humor to her experiences as the parent of a transge
