Fouad Major has done an excellent job of describing the evolutionary trend of precision inertial sensor technology toward quantum-mechanically based sensors. His work unfortunately does not go into depth on analytical modeling, but describes the principles and technology of the sensors, which is very valuable in and of itself. This is a must-read for those interested in the emerging atom-interferometer inertial sensor technology and current laser gyro technology.
