I've not read a better and more nuanced view on what it's like to I came upon this book due to a friend's suggestion; he hadn't read it yet but thought I might be interested. I was intrigued immediately. Although I am a physical-book-luddite through and through, and only own a kindle for my kids' use, I downloaded the sample chapter immediately and started reading it. That convinced me to order the book, which I did, but couldn't. Julia FD said Buy this book. I promise you'll like it!. Absolutely enjoyable read! It's rare to find an author with such an honest, vulnerable and authentic voice. The narrative successfully weaves a love story, historical conflict, coming of age, and identity politics into a book that is hard to put down. My partner and I read the book aloud together and had a lot of fun in the process; many evenings well spent!. "The best book you'll ever read!!! Guaranteed!" according to hannah frias. Kellen has such an incredible family background and life experiences, and her storytelling abilities had me binge reading, and I never read books! It's so hard to put down. Bought a copy for myself and another one for the breakroom at work. Which everyone thanked me for. Do your brain (and heart) a favor and just buy the book!
