DESCRIPTION:
We may see ourselves or women close to us in the common outlooks, the obstacles and personal difficulties faced by adult daughters, or in the wellspring of conflicted emotion released by an alcoholic mother's death. We may recognize the shattered mother-daughter dynamic whose grip is felt into adulthood, or relate to the childhood fantasy, never completely lost, to have come from a "perfect" family. But through these common bonds come hope, understanding, and the ability to reconcile the past. The brave women heard here affirm that the pain can be healed and a daughter's heart made whole at last.. Ultimately, "My Mama's Waltz" offers tremendous emotional support to those wishing to overcome the alcoholic mother's destructive influences and create a happy, fulfilled life. The two authors come from entirely different backgrounds: one is the daughter of an educated East Coast professional family; the other, from a family of poverty-stricken, uneducated Southerners. --Ericka Lutz. I also hated her." The confusion and
Morag Baillie said Only for those who favor blaming others and staying in the problem rather than the solution. This book is depressing. The mothers in the book were alcoholics who never seemed to find recovery. The daughters were professional victims who chose to blame everything on their mothers. I tried to read it because I was an alcoholic mother and had an alcoholic mother although I have been in recovery for over two decades. I lea. This book is excellent. This book helped me deal with my mother's alcoholism in ways that I cannot describe. Through this book, I have begun to understand myself and why I think along this train of thought, and how to stop this train. The book has been very comforting, the book understands me.
