Fine detail, Great reference. Very well done, good art, maps and photos. Worth the money.. Mistitled volume This book should probably not be titled as it is. The book is not as focused on the development of Minneapolis as it should be but instead spends an undue amount of time on the Minneapolis and St. Louis Railroad. The M&SL was a homegrown railroad that didn't have as much to do with the development of the city as did other railroads that were built from the south and east. In the larger picture of the development of Minneapolis, the railroads that became the Burlington Northern and Soo Line were much more important. It becomes an anno. Michael S. Vados said not what I expected, but a great read nonetheless. Both my father and grandfather had stints working on Soo Line, so naturally I was disappointed to discover that this book concentrates on the Minneapolis & St. Louis Railroad, a name that sparked no specific recollection on my part (I am a NE Minneapolis native). But this is a well-written volume, obviously a labor of love, and I found myself getting caught up in the author's enthusiasm for the M&StL and thoroughly enjoying the read. It is an extensive, erudite account, rich in detail --of special interest to the enthusiast/historian
