Ltd. From 1855 to 1966 nearly 8,000 railroad locomotives were built at the Gorton Foundry, near Manchester England, by Beyer, Peacock & Co. In the 1925 catalog, the Garratts shown had tractive effort capabilities of between 7,950 pounds and 69,150 pounds at 75% boiler pressure. The 11-1/4" x 8-1/2” softbound reprinted catalog features a four-color cover, and shows the Garrett locomotives that were delivered to the Argentine North-Eastern Railway, Burma Railways, Benguella Railway, Indian State Railway, London & North-Eastern Railway, Mauritius Government Railways, Rhodesia Railways, South African Railways and the Victorian Government Railways, among others.. Some of these steam locomotives were the famous elongated Garratts which have fascinated railfans for years. The Garrett locomotive allowed railroads to increase tonnage and reduced operating time between stations, as well as the number of trains run on a line

Five Stars It was what I expected since I have a photo copied part version of the original booklet.. Unusual locomotives that didn't catch on in North America Bill Hough Heimburger House Publishing of Forest Park, IL, has published a reprint of a 1920s-era Beyer-Peacock & Company Garratt locomotive catalog. To North American eyes, this type of locomotive is an unusual looking machine, but the fact that examples of the type remain active in the 21st Century is a testament to the soundness of the design. The locomotive has a boiler mounted on the center frame, and two steam engines are mounted on separate frames, one on each end of the boiler. Design. Garratts. Bookworm Not bad, could have done with drawings. Not all that comprehensive either. Still, that is only my opinion, others may differ, Bookworm.
