Skepticism, however, soon turned into genuine delight. Using an almost Christopher Isherwood, I-am-a-camera-like precision, Stone expertly evokes the world of a young gay man from a small town who struggles to establish himself as an actor in Hollywood. Written vividly and wryly, the book is by turns touching, exciting, erotic and dark, and is always compelling. The characters were fu. "could be a Series!" according to BettyG. A friend gave me a copy of this utterly charming book to read while on a plane to NYC. I must admit that being a "straight" woman I thought I might cringe, but I found the book to be an engaging page turner of a young man's path from the closeted small town of his youth to a wide open lifestyle and the tests and lessons learned when his boundaries are, for the first time, self determined. As a bonus, there are some great anecdotes about Hollywood and Hollywood history.
