More poetry please! Elijah definitely gave me a glimpse into the life of someone going through transition. As a heterosexual white female, I've never experienced the trials and tribulations that he has so it was very interesting and enlightening to see it from another perspective. His poems are beautiful. I especially liked the poem "Missing You Bones." Though the inclusion of stories/prose increased the depth of Elijah's storytelling, I found . Teaque McLaren said This is going on my bookshelf. Elijah Walker's book is, in the least, a glimpse into the daily struggles trans* people face in today's society (from others as well as from their own minds). As a whole his use of words to share his worries, fears, and what lies in his heart is done with great expertise, and I know that his writing will only improve as he continues his journey.. Transitions - dying to the old to be resurrected to the new. Elijah shares his heart and soul in this collection of poetry. Barefoot is a journey along his path of change in a world that wants one to remain the same. Elijah demonstrates the courage of vulnerability as he gives us glimpses of what his life is like in transition.
