From start to finish I was drawn into Dunnigan's stories, both personal and political. The editor tells the very specific stories reasonably well. Her lesson is timeless. The work is a fantastic prologue for study of black-oriented journalistic work in Washington, D.C. Hopefully someday it will become required reading for all, but especially Afro American children, Ms. Alice's journey was courageous, and demonstrated determination at it's best. What I was most amazed by is that she provided for her child against all odds and they had. First black journalist in White House!!!!!
